Marie Chouinard ma w środowisku tańca opinię estetki, eksperymentatorki, a nawet prowokatorki. Jest jednym z bardziej znanych współczesnych choreografów. Artystka od blisko czterdziestu lat tworzy wyraziste przedstawienia, które na długo zapadają w pamięć. Ma na swoim koncie ponad pięćdziesiąt spektakli tanecznych, a także akcji performatywnych, przedstawień muzycznych, instalacji i filmów. Wszystkie one są obsesyjnymi poszukiwaniami esencji formy i esencji ludzkiego ciała.

Spektakl „bODY_rEMIX/gOLDBERG _vARIATIONS" jest oryginalną interpretacją „Wariacji Goldbergowskich" Jana Sebastiana Bacha. Tematem przedstawienia jest ciało wyzwalające się z narzędzi opresji, ucisku i ograniczeń. Ruchy tancerzy warunkują tu różne akcesoria: protezy, kule, uprzęże, drążki wykorzystywane w niekonwencjonalny sposób. Powstaje ruch ograniczony, a jednocześnie wyzwolony. To poetycki hymn i marzenie o niczym nieskrępowanej wolności każdego z nas. Spektakl subtelny i jednocześnie ekstrawagancki, dostojny i dziki, w którym ruchy tancerzy zdają się zgłębić tajemnicę ludzkiego ciała. Bezkompromisowa kreacja z udziałem półnagich tancerzy, która wykracza poza wyobrażenia o współczesnym teatrze tańca.

You can't miss the legendary performance by the famous Montreal Compagnie Marie Chouinard. Known for her daring explorations, Marie Chouinard by this revolutionary creation changes the idea of ballet, dance and art at large. We are going to contemplate beauty and ugliness, as well as the strength and weakness of the human body at the same time. It is a poetic and highly emotional story of human condition in the universe.
Marie Chouinard is known in the dancing environment as an aesthete,experimenter, and even provocateur. She is one of the most recognized contemporary choreographers. For almost forty years now, the artist has created vivid performances that tend to be long remembered. She has created over fifty dance shows and performative actions, musical performances, installations and movies. All of them are a reflection of her obsessive search for the essence of form and the essence of the human body.
"My source has always been the body itself, and especially the silence and the breath which make up the "invisible" stuff of life. At the root of each new work there is always what I call the "mystery". Today, Compagnie Marie Chouinard dance theatre which was established in 1990 cooperates permanently with the famous ImPulzTanz in Vienna, and is present at all significant festivals. Marie Chouinard is also the Dance Director at the Venice Biennale, the Chairperson of Les Prix de la Danse de Montréal. She is also a laureate of many awards and prizes including the Italian Positano Choreographer of the Year Prize (2016), the Order of Arts and Letters (Quebec, 2015), the National Order of Quebec (2015), the Prix Denise-Pelletier (Quebec, 2010), the Order of Arts and Letters (France, 2009), the 2007 Order of Canada (Officer), and Bessie Award (New York, 2000).
"bODY_rEMIX/gOLDBERG _vARIATIONS" is a unique interpretation of the Goldberg Variations by Johann Sebastian Bach. The theme of the drama pertains to the human body freeing itself from instruments of oppression, distress and limitations. The dancers' movements are determined by various accessories: prostheses, crutches, harnesses, and rods used in unconventional ways. This creates an organic and at the same time liberated movement. The play is a poetic exaltation and a dream about an unrestrained personal freedom. Marie Chouinard presents asubtle and at the same time extravagant, noble and wild performance in which the dancers' movements seem to unravel the mystery of the human body. It is an uncompromising performance presented by half-naked dancers that surpasses any idea of the contemporary dance theatre.
